Turbo Volcano: Future Year 1982
Release Date: March 3. 2022
Release notes: I decided to jump into our first album with both feet just to see what would happen.
Turbo Volcano started to create music in late 2021. We had a growing list of songs for the CGR Publishing commercial videos that showed promise. I refined, extended, and polished many of the best short "commercial" tracks while also creating new, longer ones with an album in mind.
Songs like Mega Space Alligator from Monster Dimension Zero and 8-Track Killed the Internet Star show the direction of the band, I think. I'm really pleased with those tracks in particular. The Rangers of the Adventure Galaxy and Burning People with Monsters and Cutting Them in Half are my other favorites. I dig the bass line that Edit-Station 1 came up with for "Rangers." It's solid.
The title track, Future Year 1982, is the last song that I wrote for the album. It reminds me of one of those 1990s albums with a joke track at the end. It's actually a re-assembly of the rough Moog segments from a song I created called Universe Tim, but I thought they worked better as a silly song about an alternate robot future.
I consider Future Year 1982 to be an EP because it's a bit rough in nature, which I think is perfectly acceptable for Turbo Volcano's first album. Though I have decades of video editing and mixing experience, this was my first crack at a music album and I'm happy with it, but it's also a starting point upon which to grow and improve. It was a great learning experience.
The digital release may see some enhancements in the future. The upcoming physical releases should have newer, updated mixes for a few of the songs. More on that as I see what's up.
I hope you enjoy it. Me and Edit-Station 1 had a blast creating Future Year 1982.
